UD patent info
Campus researchers have been adding new technology to the
marketplace through the patenting and licensing process. Last year, 19
researchers disclosed their inventions to the Office of Research and
Patents. Thirteen researchers had patents filed in the U.S. Patent and
Trademark Office, and 15 earlier applications resulted in issued
patents.
For information on patent basics, A Patent Primer is available
from the Office of Research and Patents. Call 831-2136 for more
information.

NSF via E-Mail
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is sending award notices
electronically to eliminate multiple paper copies. Budget information
also will be sent electronically, along with the award letter, when it
is changed from the grantee's proposed budget. Electronic award
notices will be sent to the Office of Sponsored Programs
Administration, which will forward them to the individual
investigators.

Open studio event
Wynn Breslin, a nationally recognized area artist, will host a
free exhibition from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, May 30-31,
June 6-7 and 13-14 at the Wynn Breslin Studio Gallery, off Route 896,

     For more information, call 731-5738.

Toner cartridges
Purchasing and Central Stores have recently negotiated a contract
with Laser Technologies for the use of recharged toner cartridges for
laser printers on campus. These cartridges are guaranteed to equal or
surpass the performance of new cartridges, cost 20 percent less and
reduce the amount of toxins and plastic waste in landfills.
Printer warranties are not affected by the use of recharged
cartridges. CNS USer Services personnel have indicated they are
pleased with the results after running tests using a III SI recycled
toner cartridge.
All used cartridges must be sent through the Plant Property
Records Disposal section. Campus Mail will continue to pick up
properly packaged, used cartridges for recycling and recharging.

State Fair booth
The University will have exhibit space at the 1992 Delaware State
Fair in Harrington from July 23 - Aug. 1 to increase awareness of the
University's resources and the services it provides throughout the
state.
According to President David P. Roselle, "The fair is one of the
summer's main promotional events in Delaware, and the University of
Delaware's presence there is important."
The event attracts more than 250,000 people each year, and the
Unversity has been able to secure one of the fair's prime exhibit area
for its use.
The Southern Delaware Working Committee, with assistance from the
College of Agricultural Services, Graphic Services and the Office of
Public Relations, will be involved in designing and erecting a
permanent display. There also will be space set aside for materials on
specific units and opportunities for units and departments to offer
programs.
There is a need for U.D. personnel from throughout the state to
provide small portable displays and booth coverage. Interested
individuals and departments should contact Karen Roth, assistant to
the dean of agricultural sciences, at 831-6479, for information on
available times and opportunities.
