Nursing college receives gifts

The New Castle County Medical Society Auxiliary gave the College
of Nursing a $1,000 gift for its Nursing Scholarship Endowment Fund.
Linda Panzer, past auxiliary president, and Jane Frelick, chairperson
of the Benevolent Committee, presented the check during Honors Day
ceremonies.
In addition, the auxiliary presented the college with a numbered
pencil rendering entitled "The Symbolism of the Future of Nursing," by
Anna May Case. The print contains a stethoscope symbolizing the
scientific aspect of nursing and a child holding a nurse's hand
representing the caring aspect.
The auxiliary enhances the work of the medical society through
public education in the legislative area and through such projects as
starting an infant hearing assessment program.
The auxiliary awards are competitive and given to projects after
a review process.
Nursing Dean Betty Paulanka said she was pleased to be awarded
the gift, which indicates the auxiliary's regard for the college and
the importance of nursing education.
