International visitors
     A conference will be held Oct. 3 to highlight the resources
available to improve services to international visitors. Issues to
be examined will include the international tourism opportunities in
Delaware and how to encourage international visits to the state.
     Representatives of public and private organizations are

Delaware Congress
     Delaware's First Amendment Congress will meet on Friday, Oct.
25, at Wilmington College, as part of celebrations of the
bicentennial of the Bill of Rights.
     Delaware's First Amendment Congress has been chartered by the
national First Amendment Congress organization in Denver to "take
the pulse of the First Amendment in Delaware."
     The Delaware congress will include two keynote speakers, 20
workshops and a congress-ending First Amendment Assembly.
     If grants are received to help cut the program expenses,
registration costs will be limited to about $30-$35, which will pay
for lunch and refreshments.

Cosmic workshop
     The Bartol Research Institute, with the support of the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the National
Science Foundation, will host a three-day international workshop on
the subject of Particle Acceleration in Cosmic Plasmas (PACP). The
workshop will be held Dec. 4-6 in Clayton Hall.
     The meeting will provide a forum to discuss recent
developments and to encourage the discussion of new and sometimes
controversial ideas in the field.
     Approximately 100 internationally recognized physicists will
attend from such countries as India, the Soviet Union, Sweden and
Poland.

Washington shuttle
     Buses for the exclusive use of faculty and graduate students
doing research in Washington, D.C., will resume on Fridays,
starting tomorrow. The Washington shuttle departs from the Perkins
Student Center parking lot at 7:30 a.m. and leaves from Washington
at 4:30 p.m. arriving in Newark at 6:30 p.m.
     The shuttle will make stops at the Library of Congress, the
Folger Shakespeare Library and other research facilities in
Washington.
     Reservations for the shuttle must be made by noon, Thursdays,
by calling 451-2361. Ask for Vicki Gray.

World Food Day
     The Agency for International Development is encouraging active
participation in World Food Day 1991, to be held Wednesday, Oct.
16. This year's event will mark the 11th worldwide observance of
World Food Day, which was created to draw attention to the serious
problem of widespread world hunger.

Delaware/Italian day
     On Sunday, Sept. 22, Gamma Kappa Alpha, the national Italian
honor society , will sponsor the celebration of "Delaware/Italian
Friendship Day."
     The event will be held at the Wilmington Friends School
auditorium from 4 - 6 p.m. and the Italian folk dance and song
troupe, Ballerini e Voci d' Italia, will perform.
     The event is free and open to the public. For information,

Halloween escort
     The Alpha Omicron Pi sorority will conduct its second annual
Halloween escort service from 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31.
     In order to ensure the safety of the community's children,
members of the sorority will escort any child in the city of Newark
between the ages of 3-12.
