WXDR DJ: Carl Goldstein

          Name: Carl Goldstein
          Show: Fire on the Mountain
          Time: 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday
          Occupation: Delaware Superior Court judge

For 15 years, Carl Goldstein has been delighting his listeners
with banjo-strumming and fiddle-plucking blue grass. Some of the
tracks he plays during his Saturday morning "Fire on the Mountain"
show are centuries-old ballads and dance music, inter-mixed with
renditions by current artists.
Thie bluegrass style grew out of Irish and Scottish music
brought to America by settlers from the British Isles, Goldstein said.
Early forms of country and bluegrass emerged when the European mixed
with the blues style from American mountain regions. Goldstein
described his show as acoustic and folk, yet fresh and innovative.
He began his career at WXDR in 1977 and has enjoyed bringing folk
music from his 30-year collection to listeners ever since.
Goldstein moves the from studio to the courtroom during the week,
when he resumes his other career. . . as a judge in Delaware Superior
Court. He has been on the bench since 1970.
