Making changes in your flexible benefits program
There are several things you can do to make changing your
flexible benefits easier. First, become knowledgeable about your
entitlements. Read as much as you can about the program, especially
the flexible benefits book and the health care plan booklets.
Attend one of the workshops in the Student Center the first week
in May. If you cannot attend a workshop, you may wish to call the
Benefits Office for personalized counseling.
Third, assess your present benefits package in light of your
anticipated needs for the coming year and decide if it is
satisfactory. Compare the costs of the various options.
Fourth, if you decide to make a change, put your new choices on
the personalized enrollment form which will be mailed to you in late
April. Check all boxes, sign and return the form to the Benefits
Office. If you do not wish to make a change, you need not return the
enrollment form. However, you must return your flex enrollment form if
you wish to contribute to a flexible spending account (FSA), as this
is required by federal law..
Changing medical coverage requires a completed application that
must be submitted with your enrollment form. Evidence of insurability
forms may be required for life insurance coverage in certain
instances. (See related article on this page.)
The deadline for returning enrollment forms is May 15.
