LGBSU marks 20th anniversary
The Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual Student Union (LGBSU) at the University
is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a registered student
organization through April 26.
A week-long celebration of lesbian, gay and bisexual pride and
visibility is aimed at educating and entertaining the University and
Newark communities.
The Gallery in the Perkins Student Center will feature a display
of the 20-year organization's history through Thursday, April 23.
Mariah Burton Nelson will present "Passion and Pain on the
Playing Field," at 8 tonight in 204 Kirkbride Lecture Hall.
The talk will focus on the effects of homophobia on gay, bisexual
and straight athletes.
A former college and professional basketball player, Nelson
currently writes for USA Today and other publications.
Ms. Gay Delaware, Deanna Brandell, will make a Royal Visit to
campus at 9 p.m., Friday, April 24, in Bacchus Theatre of the Perkins
Student Center. The performer will be joined by Miss Renaissance,
Robin Banks, to present a show of choreography and talent. Admission
is $3.
A coffeehouse poetry reading will be held at 8 p.m., Saturday,
April 25, in Daugherty Hall. Admission is $3.
A potluck social will end the celebration at 6 p.m., Sunday,
