Black festival includes variety show, Gospelrama, tribute to Marvin Gaye

     The University of Delaware's 20th Anniversary Black Arts Festival
continues with two more events planned in April and a May 2 tribute to
the late Marvin Gaye.
     On Friday, April 24, a variety show featuring the Black Poet's
Society will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall. Tickets, at $4
each, will be sold at the door.
     On Sunday, April 26, a children's hour will be held at 2 p.m. in
the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center. The Gospelrama will be
presented the same day at 5 p.m. in Newark Hall auditorium.
     Newark Hall also will be scene of "Got To Give It Up," a musical
tribute to the legendary prince of Motown Records, Marvin Gaye,
scheduled for 8 p.m., Saturday, May 2.
     The musical review chronicles Gaye's hits and features University
of Delaware master of fine arts student Hassan El-Amin, who is
enrolled in the Professional Theatre Training Program.
     A singer, dancer and actor, El-Amin has performed the Gaye revue
in New York, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
     Sharing the stage with El-Amin to recreate the hits of Marvin
Gaye and Tammy Terrell will be Tia Harris. Musical accompaniment is by
Legacy.
     The show's musical director is Rick Feliz. Blossoms, a trio of
three University students-Dara Laws, Stacee Thomas and Katrina
Johnson, also will perform, and singer Loren Little will complete the
cast.
     Cost is $3 with a University I.D. and $8 for the general public.
All tickets will be sold at the door.
     The Blacks Arts Festival is sponsored by the Black Arts Festival
Committee, Avon, the University's Center for Black Culture and the
Cultural Programming Advisory Board.
