WalkAmerica fundraiser
The Delaware component of the country's oldest, largest and most
successful walking event, the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, will take
place on Sunday, April 26, beginning at Delaware Stadium. Registration
is at 8 a.m., with the walk beginning at 9.
This year, University President David P. Roselle is serving as
WalkAmerica's New Castle County honorary chairman. He said he is
hoping for student and staff involvement in the event.
The 15-kilometer walk benefits the March of Dimes Birth Defects
Foundation, whose mission is to improve the health of babies by
preventing birth defects and infant mortality.

Programs for Africa
The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the
Geneva-based International Organization for Migration (IOM) jointly
sponsor the Return of Skills Programme for Africa (RESPA) to assist
African countries in tackling their problems of skilled manpower
shortages.
IOM and ECA approach qualified Africans who reside in Western
countries and who wish to return to Africa (not necessarily their own
home countries) to practice their profession. ECA identifies vacant
posts in African countries that may be of interest of the potential
returnees and, jointly, the two organizations help to make placements
as appropriate.
The groups publish two booklets "Job Vacancies in Africa" and
"African Experts Available for Recruitment."
Copies of the booklets and more information on the RESPA program
are available in the Office of International Programs and Special
Sessions. For more information, call 831-6112.

the Douglas F. Carpentier Memorial Fund.
Raindate is May 9. Registration--through April 29--is $50 per
