Steele 'Civilian Employee of Year'

Lorraine Steele, office coordinator and data processor for the
University of Delaware Department of Air Force ROTC, was awarded
the National Air Force Civilian Employee of the Year Award for her
outstanding contributions to the University's Air Force ROTC
program. She competed nationally with 147 other nominees for this
distinction.
The award is part of a national recognition program run by Air
Force ROTC for employees who demonstrate on-the-job proficiency and
leadership.
Steele joined the Air Force ROTC staff as an office
coordinator and data processor when it first opened on campus in
1982. Lt. Col. Richard Martel, commander of the University's Air
Force ROTC detachment, said Steele has proved invaluable ever
since.
Steele originally competed and won the regional award last
fall and then her name was submitted to the national competition
for consideration.
