Employee Development and Training
Career Resource Center expands scope, services

While the Salaried Staff Career Enhancement Policy stresses
that employee development initiatives rest primarily with the
individual and their supervisor, other support mechanisms are also
available.
A major resource for any salaried staff member interested in
career enhancement is the Career Resource Center located in the
Academy of Newark Building. The Center is prepared to offer job
counseling, advice on the salaried staff career matrices and
general information about the education, training and skills levels
needed to perform effectively in a particular position.
In addition, the center maintains a wide array of books,
catalogues and other materials to assist staff with their own
career development.
Primary counseling assistance for salaried staff will be
provided by Donna Tuites and James Doctson. Both are members of the
Employee Relations office and have extensive experience assisting
individuals to plan their career advancement. Further, Edwina
Haring, employee development administrator, will work closely with
the Career Resource Center counselors to insure that future
training programs continue to meet the career enhancement
aspirations of salaried staff.
For further information about the Center, or to schedule a
career counseling appointment, call Employee Services at 831-2171.

Materials available
The Career Resource Center in the Academy Building has been
designed as a multi-use facility for employees. While career
mapping has been introduced as a primary mechanism to assist
professionals with their own development, the center has a number
