Grant-writing seminars next month

The Office of Research and Patents will conduct two seminars
on proposal writing and research funding next month.
A two-day grant-writing seminar is designed to aid in the
creation of a first draft of a research, training, demonstration,
service or action proposal. Participants will complete a proposal
for submission to a potential funder in the private or public
sector. The seminar will take place from 1:30-5 p.m., Monday and
Tuesday, March 9-10, in 213 Hullihen Hall.
A funding information session will be offered to provide facts
concerning sources of funding and the grants support network
provided by University staff. This seminar will be held from 1:30-5
p.m., Wednesday, March 11, in 213 Hullihen Hall.
Marvin B. Sussman, Unidel Professor Emeritus of Human
Behavior, will conduct the seminars, as he has every semester for
13 years.
"A lot of growth and learning occurs during thhe seminars," he
said. "There's an interaction of people who are specialists in
every field. That's the exciting part for me."
Sussman said he teaches the participants to use the creative
process in their writing, and the results have been positive for
those who participate.
Participants are not required to attend both seminars. Seating
is limited to 25 for each session. Each person is asked to bring a
three-ring binder for the session handouts.
To register or to receive additional information, contact the
Office of Research and Patents at 831-2136.
