March of Dimes
     WalkAmerica Workout, a special event to raise funds for the
March of Dimes, will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, in
Delaware Field House.
     Featured wil be Anthony DeMaio, Reebok's 1991 men's aerobic
champion, and the fitness professionals of Jazzercise.
     Additional highlights will include the University's Precision
Dance Team and appearances by WSTW radio personalities.
     WalkAmerica Workout is open to the public, and members of the
University community are encouraged to participate. Each
participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt and be eligible
for door prizes.
     Tickets are on sale in the Perkins Student Center concourse
area from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18. Student tickets are $8.
     The program is sponsored by WSTW and Jazzercise.

Outstanding seniors
     Nominations for the annual University of Delaware Alumni
Association awards to the outstanding senior man and woman are due
by March 2.
     Faculty interested in making nominations for the Emalea Pusey
Warner and Alexander J. Taylor awards should contact the Office of
Alumni Relations at 831-2341.

Teaching grants
     The Center for Teaching Effectiveness offers small department
or college grants to groups of faculty, departments or colleges to
design innovative projects that enhance current teaching practices.
     Grants may be used for curriculum revision, retreats,
workshops and improvement of instruction in individual units or in
interdisciplinary programs.
     The application deadline is Feb. 28. Announcement of awards
will be made on or before April 1.
     Other supplemental instructional grants and travel grants are
also available.

Condom promotion
     Feb, 14-21 will be National Condom Week (NCW) - the 10th
annual condom promotion and education program on college campuses
nationwide.
     According to Robert Longwell-Grice, assistant director of
housing and residence life, NCW approaches a serious subject with
humor to educate people about the importance of using condoms
correctly. The promotion stresses condoms' effectiveness in
preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted
pregnancies.
     Residence halls will have programs and displays during NCW.

International awards
     Guidelines/applications for International travel awards and
International mini-grants are available from departments and the
Office of International Programs and Special Sessions.
     Travel award applications, which are accepted on a continuing
basis, are reviewed periodically. The next reviews are for
applications received as of March 12 and as of May 15. The maximum
amount of each grant is $300.
     Applications for international mini-grants will continue to be
reviewed in cycles.
     The spring cycle is for activities planned during July 1-Dec.
31. The deadline is March 27. The maximum amount is $1,000.
