Basketball team on a 10-game streak
The University of Delaware men's basketball team continued its
winning ways Saturday in Philadelphia as the Blue Hens rolled to
their 10th straight win with a 69-66 victory over North Atlantic
Conference (NAC) foe Drexel University.
With the win, the Blue Hens set or tied five school records
for success. Delaware's 10th straight win, the third longest
current winning streak in the nation among Division I schools, tied
the school record of 10 set over two seasons in 1968-70.
The win also was Delaware's 11th road win this season
(breaking the record of 10 set in 1952-53). The win also gave
Delaware a 7-0 mark in NAC play, tying the school record for best
start in conference play of 7-0 by the 1952-53 team which then
competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference. The Hens' 17-3 record
also sets a new school record for best start after 20 games,
breaking the record of 16-4 set three times, the last time in
1971-72.
Delaware, which received a vote in the USA Today Coaches Top
25 poll last week for the first time since 1987-88, stands atop the
NAC standings with a 7-0 mark and will resume action this Friday
when they play the University of Hartford at 7:30 p.m. The team
will host Vermont Saturday at 3 p.m.
