Settlement school faculty in concert

Faculty from the Settlement Music School (SMS) in Philadelphia will
present a recital of new music- some easy to listen to, some not so
easy, none boring-at the University Friday, Feb. 14.
The 8 p.m. concert by the SMS Contemporary Players will be held in
the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
The group is conducted by Robert Capanna, executive director of the
Settlement Music School, and Harvey Price, instructor in the Department
of Music.
The evening's program includes Octet for flute, clarinet, horn,
percussion, violin, viola, cello and bass by Yinam Leaf; Duo Concertante
for violin and piano by Robert Maggio; Notturno (1974) for flute,
clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion by Donald Martino; and
Poem of Soft Music (1975) for flute, cello and piano by Larry
Nelson.
Nelson, a member of the faculty at West Chester University, will
discuss his composition from 2:30-3:30 p.m., Feb. 14, in the Room 207 of
the Amy du Pont Music Building. This talk is free and open to the
public.
Tickets for the concert are $8 for the general public and $5 for
University faculty, staff and senior citizens. Students are admitted
free.
Part of the University of Delaware Performing Arts Series, this
performance of SMS Contemporary Players is made possible by a grant
through the Meet the Composer/ Philadelphia Music Project, supported by
the Pew Charitable Trusts.
