United Way donations up, bringing total to $146,537
University employees contributed $146,537 to the 1991 United
Way Campaign, an increase of more than $3,000 over last year,
according to Joyce Dennis, assistant to the director of Employee
Services and co-chair of the campaign. This year's total represents
50 percent participation on the part of University employees,
Dennis said.
Carol Hoffecker, acting associate provost of graduate studies,
won the top incentive prize, a Freeport Fling donated by Campbell
Travel of Newark.
Glen Mellin, research associate in the Department of
Anthropology, won a trip for two to an opera or a musical, donated
by the Division of Continuing Education; Richard Strazzella,
assistant director of housing and residence life, won weekend
accommodations for two at the Virden Center in Lewes, a prize
donated by Conferences and Centers.
Kathleen Kerr, assistant area coordinator in housing and
residence life, won a three-piece set of luggage from Bag & Baggage
of Wilmington.
Winning prizes donated by Dining Services were: Martha
Collins, assistant director of international programs and special
sessions, and Diane Stevenson, senior secretary in life and health
sciences, who each won a one-year membership to the Blue and Gold
Club; Barbara Freidly, records specialist in Gift Processing, won
dinner for two at the Blue and Gold; and Theresa Russell, manager
in Accounts Receivable, won $25 in dining points.
Wanda Wilson, records clerk in public safety, won a Taste of
the Brandywine coupon book, donated by the U-Del Credit Union.
The following individuals won prizes donated by the Recreation
and Intramurals Program: Lisa Hines, nurse in Student Health
Services, and Bryan Draper, library conservation assistant, each
won free linen and locker services at Carpenter Sports Building;
Bobby Lee Robbins, plant operations, and Bernadette Szczepanek,
office coordinator in intercollegiate athletics, each won a free
skating pass to the ice arena; Stacia Wilson, student housing, won
an individual or family membership to the outdoor pool and Laurence
Seidman, professor of economics, won basketball tickets.
Charles Pelletier, HVAC foreman, Plant Operations, won a $50
gift certificate to the University Bookstore.
Ellen Lilley, senior secretary in textiles, design and
consumer economics, and Linda Hickman, secretary in graduate
studies, each won tickets for two to a current season performance
offered by the Professional Theatre Training Program.
Patricia Donnelly, administrative coordinator in the Office of
the Dean of Students, won an original oil artwork painted by Grace
Hendrickson, records technician in Accounts Payable.
