Purchase plan gets good response
The University's computer purchase plan, which offered
educational discounts to faculty and staff met with a good
response, with more than 22 percent of eligible employees
participating, according to Susan Foster, associate vice president
of Computer and Network Services.
"We were glad to offer this important opportunity to faculty
and staff to enable them to purchase essential computer equipment
for their professional use," Foster said.
A total of 765 orders was placed in the period from April 1
through Dec. 1. The purchase program was in response to a
recommendation of the Computer Resource Planning Committee, which
formulated a five-year plan for computing at the University.
Faculty and staff members were able to purchase complete
computer systems, printers, software and upgrade equipment with a
no-interest installment plan or a 5 percent cash discount.
According to Foster, the program will be reviewed in a few
years to determine if a similar purchasing plan would be desirable.
