Larry Peterson, music, won second place in fine and applied arts
division of Zenith Corp.'s 1991 Masters of Innovations Awards, with
his demonstration using ToolBook software to teach music
appreciation and literature. His award included publication of his
entry in the Masters of Innnovation III Collections, a lucite
obelisk, $4,000 in personal computing equipment and $4,000 of
computing equipment donated to the Department of Music.

Marian L. Palley, political science and international relations,
elected vice president and 1993 program chairperson, Southern
Political Science Association.

Joyce Hill Stoner, art conservation, elected to Board of National
Institute for Conservation.

Melbourne R. Carriker, marine sciences emeritus, coordinating
editor of 28th volume in the series, "Marine Flora and Fauna of the
Eastern United States," National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration Technical Report NMFS 100. The report, authored by
Robert B. Short, is on Dicyemida, minute parasites in the mesozoan
group.
