Ice Breaker features well-known comic
The first annual Ice Breaker, a humorous extravaganza, will be
held from 7-10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, in Newark Hall Auditorium.
The evening's entertainment will feature Martin Lawrence, who was
a co-star of the hit film House Party and who had a role in Spike
Lee's Do the Right Thing.
Lawrence, who has appeared on It's Showtime at the Apollo and
starred in his own HBO television special, is the star of the new
film Talking Dirty After Dark.
Cost for the Ice Breaker is $5 and $8 for general admission.
The program is co-sponsored by the Cultural Programming
Advisory Board and the Brotherhood of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.

College of Business to feature speakers
Timely topics of interest to the business community will be
addressed by senior members of the University of Delaware faculty
and by speakers from the business and government sectors in the
1991-92 College of Business and Economics Breakfast Series.
Programs will be held Tuesdays from 7:30-9 a.m., monthly at
the University's Wilmington campus. A full buffet breakfast will
begin promptly at 7:30 a.m., immediately followed by the featured
speaker and discussion.
Opening the series on Sept. 10, will be James L. Butkiewicz,
associate dean of the College of Business and Economics, discussing
"The National Economic Outlook for 1991-92."
On Oct. 8, Rep. Carper will speak on "The Changing Nature of
the Financial Service Industry: A Federal Outlook for the 1990s."
Donald J. Puglisi, professor of finance, will discuss
"Restructuring the American Financial System" on Nov. 12.
"Economic Outlook for Delaware and the Region" will be the
subject of a talk on Feb. 11 by John Stapleford, director of the
University's Bureau of Economic and Business Research.
Donald R. Brunner of J.P. Morgan (Delaware) will address
"Managing Change in the Financial Service Industry" on March 10.
Concluding the 1991-92 series will be John L. Kmetz, associate
professor of business administration. He will discuss
"Opportunities and Problems for Delaware in the Privatization of
Bulgaria" on April 14.
Business executives may register for individual breakfasts or
subscribe to the entire six-program series at a cost savings.

Chinese exhibit to open Sept. 13
Recent works by Z. Lin entitled 'The Five Chinese Elements'
will be on view Sept. 13-27 in Clayton Hall. The exhibit is free
and open to the public.
Z. Lin is a master of fine arts candidate at the University of
Delaware. He received a B.A. in printmaking from Zhejiang Academy
of Fine Arts in China. He won a series of scholarships including
the prestigious Rothermere Foundation Scholarship to continue his
studies at the University of London's Slade School of Fine Arts and
the University.
A reception to meet the artist is scheduled for Thursday,
Sept. 12 from 4-6 p.m. in the lobby of John M. Clayton Hall at the
University.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays
