New Castle County Fair to offer weekend of fun
New Castle County is celebrating its 25th birthday this year
with a party-a 37-acre party!
It's the New Castle County Fair, to be held Saturday and
Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15, at Delaware Park.
The fair will feature a midway with rides and games and a
children's festival, sponsored by Family Times Magazine and
including games, special kiddie rides, an interactive exhibit
courtesy of the Delaware Children's Museum and national acts-The
Catskill Puppet People and the Backyard Circus.
Entertainment won't be for kids only. A main-stage
entertainment area will feature top 40 bands as well as belly
dancing. A food court and auto dealers' sale also will be at the
fair, as will be displays of hot rods, custom, classic and antique
cars and a "Smoke House," which simulates a house on fire. A
300-by-100-foot tent will showcase area businesses, crafts and
non-profit exhibitors.
In addition, Delaware Park will have free admission the whole
weekend.
Admission to the fair will be $4 per person. Children 12 and
under will be admitted free. See the box below for details on a
special ticket distribution for members of the University
community.
Fair hours are 10 a.m. until dusk on Saturday and noon until
dusk on Sunday. Fair-goers are advised to park in Delaware Park's
Route 4 and Route 7 parking lots, walk through the grove and into
the underpass to the fair grounds.
Fair sponsors are CountyPride, the county's marketing group,
the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and Delaware Park.
