Music by women composers will be performed in a free recital featuring hornist Cynthia Carr, with accompaniment by pianist Julie Nishimura, at 2 p.m., Sunday Sept. 29, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Carr, associate professor of music, is active as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She currently is hornist of the Del'Arte Wind Quintet and the Delaware Brass, as well as a member of the orchestra of the Opera Company of Philadelphia. She has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra in the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Carnegie Hall in New York and on their recording of works by Wagner for Deutsche Grammophone records. In 1996, she released a CD of music for horn and piano by women composers with Nishimura. She previously recorded with Rekkenze Brass and as a guest with the Chestnut Brass Company.
