AWARDS
Amalia Amaki, assistant professor of Black American Studies, has been named by Emory University as an Arts and Sciences Distinguished Alumna, with the award to be presented Sept. 20 during Emory's alumni weekend.
Scott K. Stackhouse, research assistant in physical therapy, received the Chattanooga Research Award from the American Physical Therapy Association for co-authoring an article in the scientific journal of APTA titled "Maximum Voluntary Activation in Nonfatigued and Fatigued Muscle of Young and Elderly Individuals."
Peter M. Weil, associate professor of anthropology, was recognized as a "searchlight" for researchers on Mande peoples in Senegambia and Guinea Bissau, when a panel on "Mande in the Atlantic World" was dedicated to him at the fifth international conference on Mande studies held June 17-21, Leiden, Netherlands.
