Captains needed for Jamie Field fund raiser

A 5K Run, Walk & Roll is being held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at the First USA Riverfront Arts Center in Wilmington for Jamie Field, who is paralyzed from a gunshot wound he received in Wilmington last December.

Jamie Field is the son of the late Larry Field, a member of the Class of 1971, who was a polio survivor and who died of multiple myeloma on March 13, 2001. Jamie Field took care of his father in the last months of his life, and now Jamie needs help.

Family members and friends are organizing the fund raiser with the help of the Delaware/ Maryland Paralyzed Veterans Association. The money will be used to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for him.

Jamie 5K captains are needed to raise awareness for the event and sign up 10 walkers each.

The entry fee for early registration is $15 per person.

All contributions are tax deductible. The Delaware/ Maryland Paralyzed Veterans Association is managing the collection and distribution of the funds. Checks should be made payable to "DM PVA" with the notation "Jamie Field 5K" in the memo section and mailed to DM PVA, 28 Peddlers Row, Christiana, DE 19702.
