GALA FACULTY CONCERT OPENS
MUSIC DEPARTMENT'S FALL SCHEDULE
The University's Department of Music opens its fall performance with the 13th annual faculty gala concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building. Admission is free, with seating on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Featured faculty soloists are soprano Marie Robinson; baritone Patrick Evans; pianist Christine Delbeau; Cynthia Carr, horn; Xiang Gao, violin; Alan Hamant, trumpet; Jay Hildebrandt, trombone; and Harvey Price, xylophone. Faculty ensembles-in-residence performing that night include the Del'Arte Woodwind Quintet--Eileen
Grycky, flute; Lloyd Shorter, oboe; Charles Salinger, clarinet; Jon Gaarder, bassoon; and Carr--and the Taggart-Grycky Duo, with Grycky, and Christiaan Taggart, guitar. Also featured are pianists Julie Nishimura and Linda Henderson.
The annual event provides audiences with an opportunity to hear a cross section of UD's faculty artists, many of whom will present full recitals during the coming year. This year's program will again include a wide variety of musical periods and styles, ranging from an aria from Mozart's Il re pastore to Darius Milhaud's bravura Scaramouche Suite for two pianos to John Williams' evocative Schindler's List Suite, among others.
