VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR
ARRIVAL SURVIVAL TEAM 2002

Mark your calendar now for Sunday, Sept. 1. That's when this year's Arrival Survival Team (AST) will be mobilized to help make moving in a little easier for new and transfer students as they arrive on New Student Check-in Day.

To make this possible, the Office of Housing and Residence Life is seeking some 500 student, faculty and alumni volunteers to sign up for AST duty that day. Volunteers are needed to help as:

•  LUGGAGE LUGGERS for three-hour shifts in all campus areas except North Central (Harter, Sharp, Brown and Sypherd),
  
  
• LOBBY GREETERS for three-hour shifts to meet and greet parents and students in the residence hall lobbies and
  
  
• TEAM LEADERS, who arrive a few minutes early on Sept. 1 to take attendance and possibly help serve as luggage luggers or lobby greeters as time permits.

Frank Newton, assistant director in the Office of Residence Life, said that comments received from parents and students during past years indicate that AST volunteers perform a truly appreciated service.

Former AST members also noted that they had a great time serving as move-in day volunteers, where they often meet former acquaintances and alumni who were moving in their own sons and daughters.
