Concert will feature composer
At 8 p.m., Monday, April 29, the Del'Arte Woodwind Quintet will present a free concert sponsored by the Department of Music in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
Highlighting the program is Seven Aphorisms by Cynthia Folio. This piece was composed by Folio for the quintet, who premiered it last December. Folio will be present at the concert and will speak about her piece immediately before the performance.
Also included on the program are Quintet #23, Opus 100 #5 by Anton Reicha, La Cheminee du Roi Renee by Darius Milhaud and Kleine Kammermusik Opus 24 #2 by Paul Hindemith.
Members of the quintet are Eileen Grycky, flute; Lloyd Shorter, oboe; Charles Salinger, clarinet; Jon Gaarder, bassoon; and Cynthia Carr, horn. As ensemble-in-residence at the University of Delaware, the Del'Arte Quintet explores the exciting and unique tradition of wind chamber music from the 18th century to the present. Del'Arte ensemble members are all individually active as recitalists and members of other performing ensembles and maintain teaching studios at the University.
