Poetry Slam competition on April 13
Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors Society, and student group Stimulating Prose Ideas and Theories [SPIT] will host the first Delaware Poetry Slam at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 13, in 127 Memorial Hall. Awards will be given to student poet winners, with $300 for first place and $100 for second.
Poetry Slam is an artistic competition among poets who read their works in front of an audience and are judged on the content of the poem. Each poet has a time limit of three minutes, with a 10-second grace period.
Poets must rely on the content of their poem and their voice to score points. The use of props, costumes and musical instruments is prohibited.
The April 13 Poetry Slam is free and open to UD students and faculty. For more information, visit the web site at [www.poetry slam.com] or send e-mail Daniel Gray at [dlgray@ udel.edu].
