March of Dimes WalkAmerica steps off on April 28
Mark your calendars now to set aside Sunday, April 28, to join the UD WalkAmerica team that will be raising money for the March of Dimes. Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the walk beginning at 10 a.m. at the Delaware Field House.
The goal of the March of Dimes is to prevent birth defects and infant mortality though education, research, community programs and advocacy. During its 32-year history, WalkAmerica has raised more than $1 billion dollars.
This year's WalkAmerica 6-mile walk will be a fun event with snacks along the walk, entertainment, lunch and UD student organizations providing activities for kids at the end of the walk. YoUDee, Baby Blue, the UD cheerleaders, WSTW personalities and others will be on hand to cheer the walkers on.
The first 50 members of the UD community to register with $25 or more in pledges will receive a free University of Delaware Walk T-shirt.
Brochures with registration information are available at the Trabant and Perkins student centers, Carpenter Sports Building, Employee Wellness Center, dining halls and other campus locations.
Other walks are scheduled in Kent County on April 27, leaving from Legislative Mall, and in Sussex County on May 4, stepping off from Delaware Technical and Community College. Both walks begin with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk beginning at 10 a.m.
