Since the beginning of February, members of the campus community–and anyone with access to the Internet–have been able to learn about the latest campus events, news and announcements through UDaily, a new source of up-to-date information.

This online daily news outlet is fast becoming the source of timely information at the University of Delaware, through its several regular news and feature sections.

Check it out at [udel.edu/ udaily] or go to the University home page, at [www.udel.edu/], click on "more news." Here is a simple guide to its navigation:

• Upper left is a lead story that contains important information about significant news, cultural or athletic events on campus.
  
  
• What's Happening provides information on cultural activities, special events and lectures on campus. By clicking "more," readers can find information about additional events.
  
  
• News offers up-to-date stories and information about news on campus. By clicking "more," users can find additional news stories.
  
  
• Athletics presents news and information about sporting events on campus, including varsity athletics, club sports and UD's international figure skating program.
  
  
• A regular feature section spotlights a variety of stories, including accomplishments, books, international perspectives, donations and research.
  
  
• The new UDaily also includes a Bulletin Board, found under the Resources section, with useful news and information on key dates and deadlines.
  
  
• Also found under the Resources section is Ask Francis Alison, a new informational feature in which questions about the University are answered.
  
  
• Coming soon will be the feature Marketplace@UD, where members of the UD community can find special coupons and bargains from area merchants and businesses.

UPDATE

The new UDaily is part of a rethinking of University communication needs and is tied to the new monthly publication schedule for UpDate, which began in the fall.

UpDate is delivered to all campus offices during the week of the 15th of each month during the academic year. It also is distributed at high traffic sites, including classroom buildings, sports and cultural buildings, dining halls and administrative offices.

According to Mary Hempel, public relations, "We are taking advantage of ongoing changes in technology to insure that we deliver information about the University to our various audiences quickly and efficiently. UDaily allows us to use the Internet to reach alumni, friends and others interested in UD around the world, as well as those in our immediate campus community. But, we also are continuing publication of our long-running campus paper, which provides important news and serves as an historic record of campus life and achievements."
