Apply for matching grants, awards on women's issues

Each year, matching grants and special awards are available through the Office of Women's Affairs and the Commission on the Status of Women.

The E. Arthur Trabant Award for Women's Equity is given to an individual, department, administrative unit or committee that has made an exceptional contribution to equity for women at UD. The deadline for nominations is April 10. This award will be presented at a lunchtime ceremony on May 17.

Two awards will be given at Honors Day to outstanding returning adult women students. The Bessie Collins Award of $200 will be given to a woman over 25 years old who has overcome special difficulties in pursuing her goals. The Mae Carter Award of $500 will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate woman student who has demonstrated service to women on campus and commitment to scholarship. The deadline for these two awards is March 8.

The Visiting Women's Scholars Fund is a matching fund designed to assist departments in bringing women scholars to campus. There is a rolling deadline, and each application will be evaluated when it is received.

The Student Travel Award and the Special Travel Award (for faculty and staff members) require a departmental match and are available to women doing research in any area or to men whose research involves women's issues. The awards are given to support travel to present scholarly papers, or for significant participation at a conference or comparable activity. The deadline for spring semester applications is April 1. Travel must take place before July 1.
