Winter Commencement
Winter Commencement will begin at 10:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9 a.m. and robing at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center.
For the first time, Winter Commencement this year will be webcast live, making it available as it happens on computers around the world. "We're excited to be able to make use of the University's award-winning technological capabiliites so that graduates, family and friends who might not be able to attend will still be able to join in the celebration," Sharon Dorr, alumni and University relations, said. The link to the webcast will be on the University's home page [www.udel.edu].
At the ceremony, Foster Friess, president of Friess Associates, a Delaware-based firm managing equity funds, and Lynn Friess, who with her husband founded Life Enrichment Foundation to channel their charitable giving, will receive Medals of Distinction.
Attendance at Winter Commencement is voluntary, but participants are required to be in academic regalia, which can be ordered from the University Bookstore until Nov. 26. A mailing with full details is being sent to graduating students and parents this month.
Each graduating student is entitled to a maximum of six guest tickets, which will be available at the Student Services Building from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Dec. 3-7. Students who need additional tickets may put their names on a waiting list, and after Dec. 7, these requests will be filled on a space-available basis. Any remaining tickets will be available at Alumni Hall from 8 a..m.-5 p.m., Dec. 11-21 and Jan. 2-4.
