Survivors of sexual assault discussion series offered

The Support Service for Survivors of Sexual Assault (SOS) at UD will be facilitating a six-week discussion series for survivors during this fall 2001 semester.

The discussion series, which replaces the support group for survivors that SOS has run in the past, is designed to meet the needs of survivors of all types of sexual assaults, male or female, and will meet after 6 p.m., on selected Wednesday evenings.

With different topics scheduled for discussion during each 90-minute session, SOS seeks to provide survivors of sexual assault with a safe place to explore their feelings and learn about healing theory and coping skills.

Participants also will be encouraged to determine what additional types of longer-term care and support services will best serve their individual healing processes.

Interested participants must meet with facilitators of the series prior to attending the discussions.
