COLLEGIUM CONCERT IN EARLY MUSIC NOV. 30

Collegium Musicum, directed by Michael O'Connor, music, will perform at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, in Bayard Sharp Hall.

The concert celebrates the 500th anniversary of the publication of Petrucci's Odhecaton in 1501, a watershed date in the history of music printing and dissemination. In that year in Venice, responding to the newfound demand for music created by patronage and musical activity, Ottaviano de Petrucci published the first collection of polyphonic music, Harmonice musices odhecaton, printed from movable type.

The Nov. 30 program includes guest artists Tim Miller on lute and Daniel Rippe on viola da gamba.

Collegium Musicum is part of UD's Early Music Program and provides instrumentalists and vocalists the opportunity to study and perform music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods.
