T he Women in Leadership in the Arts Fall 2001 Lecture Series will be held from 7-9:30 p.m., Wednesdays, through Nov. 7, in Room 104 Gore Hall.
The free public series includes:
- Carol Singley, of the English department at Rutgers University, who will speak "On Women, Movement and Momentum: Where Are We Going, Where Have We Been, and Do We Need Nikes to Get There?," Oct. 17;
- Mary Ellen Scheckenbach, acupuncturist, who will speak on "The Philosophy Behind Healing: How Does Chinese Medicine Work and How Does It Fit into Western Medicine?." Oct. 24;
- Robin Smith, psychologist, who will speak on "Women and Fear," the topic of a book she is writing; Oct. 31; and
- Margaretta Gilboy, an artist, who will speak on "Tensions in the Still Life: Translations from My Life," showing slides and talking about the thought and feeling process that inspires her imagination as well as her development as an artist, Nov. 7.
Women in Leadership in the Arts, which may be taken as a one-credit course, is sponsored by the Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Program and the Faculty Senate Committee on Cultural Activities and Public Events.
