Chaplin Tyler Executive Lecture Series features alumnus inventor
The Chaplin Tyler Executive Leadership Series will feature UD alumnus Thomas M. Lopez, who often turns his inventions into successful businesses before selling them publicly or privately. He will discuss "Inventing Business and New Applications for Technology," at 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, in the Chaplin Tyler Atrium of MBNA America Hall College of Business and Economics.
In the early 1980s, Lopez helped Activision, a leading independent developer of video entertainment products, go public and his next two ventures, which pioneered interactive and multimedia CD-ROM technology, were sold to Microsoft Corp. and the Washington Post. Lopez also invented the product known today as Microsoft Bookshelf, and served for three years at Microsoft as vice president in charge of the CD-ROM division.
Lopez graduated from UD in 1967, with a degree in business administration.
The talk is free and open to the public, but for reservations, call 831-2221.
The Executive Leadership Series is dedicated to Chap and Elizabeth Tyler of Hockessin and honors their commitment to education and their determination to help young people succeed in business.
