Calliope VI in The Bob to benefit music students

The UD Performing Arts Series and the Department of Music will present the sixth annual Calliope concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, in the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center. General admission is $10, and proceeds will benefit UD's Department of Music Scholarship Fund.

A showcase of Department of Music vocal and instrumental ensembles, Calliope has sold out Mitchell Hall year after year. This year, the action moves to The Bob, with more than 400 student musicians.

This one-of-a-kind kaleidoscopic concert features Wind Ensemble directed by Robert J. Streckfuss, Jazz Ensembles I & II directed by Jay Hildebrandt and Tom Palmer, University of Delaware Chorale, directed by Paul D. Head; University Orchestra directed by Hekun Wu, University Singers directed by Nicole Clouser, Percussion Ensemble directed by Harvey Price, Symphonic Band directed by Heidi Sarver and James Ancona, Horn Ensemble directed by Cynthia Carr and Flute Choir directed by Eileen Grycky. The program concludes with a rousing finale by the 300-member Fightin' Blue Hens Marching Band directed by Sarver.
