Alcohol awareness in spotlight
National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week will take place from Monday through Thursday, Oct. 15-18.
Many of the events complement activities scheduled for Sexual Assault Awareness Week, Oct. 22-24, including a talk by U.S. Senator Joseph Biden on "Dangers of Date Rape Drugs," Oct. 22; and a talk, "What's Love Got to Do with It?," by Dawn Alexander of CHILD Inc., on Oct. 16. Throughout the week, there will be a kiosk from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Trabant University Center, offering information. In addition, Red Ribbons for Drug-free Communities will be available.
Events include
TUESDAY, OCT. 16
Fall Food Show, 11 a.m.-
2 p.m., Rodney Room, Perkins Student Center. Free samples of new foods will be available from Dining Services, as well as V8 mocktails. Free V8 mocktail service is available for Resident Student Organization events.
Studio Stu will entertain at a Student Centers Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB) Coffee House at 7:30 p.m. in the Scrounge of the Perkins Student Center. Admission and coffee are free.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17
Getting High at the Movies, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, 7:30 p.m. and Leaving Las Vegas, 9:45 p.m., Trabant University Center Theatre. These free films are being presented by SCPAB in the spirit of the Prism awards which recognize accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
THURSDAY, OCT. 18
Get Wacky Not Wasted,
8 p.m.-1 a.m., Perkins Student Center. This event will feature unusual activities, novelties and entertainment in the Hen Zone, Bacchus Theatre and the Scrounge
