Web site offers options for University support

The Office of University Development's web site is a good place to discover the many options available for supporting the University of Delaware through a variety of giving programs.

By using features like the "Make a gift" button, which appears on every page, potential donors learn that gifts also can include stocks, giving societies and planned giving, as well as corporate and private fund contributions.

Additional online choices for giving include the University of Delaware Athletic Fund, which provides support for scholar-athletes.

Although the new site definitely has its own look, it also provides a link to the Campaign for Delaware, the University's multiyear fundraising effort.

One of the goals of the team designing the development web site was to provide as much information as possible while making it easy for those who wanted to make a contribution.

"We wanted to update the information and give it a new look," Kevin O'Brien, development, said. "We wanted to design a site that would provide our constituents with valuable information about the University to encourage their financial support." ?

While noting that most web browsers spend an average of 10 to 20 seconds on a page, Joy Lynam, Management and Information Services, said the development web site pages are a good length and easily readable, encouraging online guests to linger awhile longer and discover the various giving options available.

"It's engaging," Lynam said. "There is uniform page layout and consistent navigation so that visitors browsing the pages can easily find contact information or additional menu options."
