Library Associates names new officers, board for 2001

The University of Delaware Library Associates recently elected officers for 2001. Wilson J.C. Braun, president of J.P. Morgan Trust Co. of Delaware, will serve as president; Michael Olin Clark, vice president of Scudder, Stevens & Clark, will serve as senior vice president; Helen S. Balick, retired chief judge of U.S. Bankruptcy Court, will serve as vice president; J.A. Leo Lemay, Winterthur Professor of English at UD, will serve as treasurer; Joseph P. Melloy Sr., retired consultant for higher education, International Business Machines Corp., will serve as secretary; and Susan Brynteson, director of libraries, will serve as assistant secretary/treasurer.

New members of the board of directors elected for a three-year term include: Marsha Barnett, Claire M. DeMatteis and Eldon duPont Homsey.

The Library Associates also unanimously passed a resolution to honor John B. Tepe, for his service as president from 1996-2000, Mrs. M. Woodbridge Chadwick as director emeritus and the late Carolyn Green and Andrew Kirkpatrick Jr. for their service as members of the board.

Since its founding in 1958, the University of Delaware Library Associates has worked to expand and enrich the research collections of the University of Delaware Library through gifts from individual members, funds raised by the Library Associates' programs, and donations of significant books.

Each year the Library Associates contributions assist financially with the acquisition of rare library materials, sponsor an exhibition opening reception and an exhibition publication to promote special collections, support a lecture featuring the research of a UD faculty member and sponsor an annual dinner that includes a presentation by an author of regional or national acclaim.

New members are actively solicited for Library Associates membership.
