Grant to aid people of Ghana

The International Union of Local Authorities' Office of Research and Training at UD has been awarded a $99,460 grant by the Association Liaison Office for University Cooperation in Development. The grant uses USAID funds to improve higher education in developing countries.

Under this grant, the University and the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies in Rotterdam are partners in improving the training of local government officials in Ghana.

Arno Loessner, Institute for Public Administration, is project director, and he and Steven Peuquet, Center for Community Development and Family Policy, are principal investigators. Two Master of Public Administation (MPA) students are assisting.

"The project offers the people of Ghana the benefit of the University of Delaware's experience with teaching and research and practical public sector experience. The project offers our students an opportunity to gain applied public policy experience in an international setting," Peuquet said.
