More than $1 million in ECPP orders placed by employees

Over the past five weeks, more than 400 University employees have ordered more than $1 million worth of computing hardware and software through the University's Employee Computer Purchase Program.

Anita Wellner, Library Special Collections, placed the order that put the UD ECPP total over the million-dollar mark. She said she plans to use her new Gateway Professional M-866 computer for e-mail, Internet access, word processing and "little graphics projects, like cards and fliers."

Wellner said she also will use the computer for her own professional development, teaching herself about a database program that she expects to use at work. She said she is eager to replace her old 120MHz computer with her new 866MHz system.

"I bought one during the last purchase program, five years ago. The new computer will be so much faster, and even adding a scanner, it's much less expensive than my old one," she said.

The ECPP runs through Nov. 17. For more information, stop by the Technology Solutions Center in 002B Smith Hall or visit the web site at [http://www.udel. edu/ecpp/].
