Parents and prospective students enjoy Fest-O-Fall on the Mall. Blue and Golden Saturdays for prospective UD students and their families were held by the admissions office, Oct. 7, 21 and Nov. 11. High school students and their parents began with a continental breakfast and then visited the colleges of their choice to learn about academic programs. Campus tours and informational sessions on such topics as academics, the Honors Program, admissions and financial aid were held, followed by lunch on campus or at Main Street eateries. A Fest-o-Fall, from noon to 2 p.m. on the Mall in front of Morris Library, featured YoUDee and student entertainers, who performed for visitors with music and dancing. Student organizations and University departments had informational tables with representatives to talk to visitors at the event. Late sessions and tours completed the day. The final Blue and Golden Saturday also featured a Friday overnight for students of color and their parents. A Friday afternoon reception was followed by panel discussions and a dinner. After the dinner, the high school students spent a social evening with UD students. Another special event on Saturday was a Just for Delawareans reception at the Perkins Student Center. Dessert was served, and in-state high school students and their families were greeted by President David P. Roselle, Larry Griffith and Lou Hirsch, both admissions. A panel discussion by students from Delaware followed. "The message we wished to convey to Delaware high school students is that this is your University and we encourage you to apply," Griffith said.
