Starr Scholarships are available for promising UD students who would benefit from a study abroad experience but who are unable to afford the cost. The awards, which cover the program fee, range between $1,500-$4,500, depending on the program. Between 20 to 30 scholarships will be given for study abroad this year. To nominate a candidate, sponsoring faculty and UD professionals should consult with the UD student, reviewing his or her GPA and confirming that he or she wants to study abroad in the coming year. It is recommended that students have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students must have completed at least 24 credit hours at the time of application and have had no prior UD study abroad experience. Sponsors also should help students select a study abroad program that will best enhance academic development. Online nomination forms are available at [www.udel.edu/studyabroad/ recommend/nominate. html]. Deadline for round Isummer/ fall study abroad 2001 is Nov. 1. The deadline for winter/spring study abroad 2002 is April 13. For more information, check out [www.udel.edu/ study abroad/scholarships]. |
