Free child identification kits, distributed by the National Child Identification Program and sponsored by the American Football Coaches Association, are available in the Hen House to parents attending UD home football games. The kits include material for inkless fingerprinting, and forms to fill out about a child's physical characteristics, such as scars and moles, and where dental and medical records are stored. Parents then store the kits in a safe place to be used by law enforcement agencies in case of a crisis situation. The kits can used for other family members as well. Some 800,000 children are reported missing each year in this country. More than 8 million children have received free child I.D. kits from this program since its inception in 1997, and the program grows each year in an effort to protect children. |
