Provost begins leave; CHEP
Provost Mel Schiavelli began a year-long leave Aug. 15, UD President David P. Roselle announced. Dan Rich, dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy (CHEP), will serve as acting provost. "Provost Schiavelli requested this leave to address complications in his personal life. Also, he has pointed out that he has been an academic administrator for more than 20 years and felt that he needed time away from the routine," Roselle said. "I am very grateful that Dean Rich has agreed to serve as acting provost. Dr. Schiavelli has worked with Dean Rich to ensure that the transition is smooth." Timothy Barnekov, director of the Center for Community Development and Family Policy in CHEP, will serve as acting dean of the college.
