UD claims 10th straight America East Commissioner's Cup

For the 10th straight year, the University of Delaware has captured the Stuart P. Haskell Jr. Commissioner's Cup as the top all-around athletics program in the America East Conference.

The Blue Hens joined America East in 1991-92 and will this fall be departing for the Colonial Athletic Association for all sports except field hockey, men's and women's soccer, football and rowing. Delaware has captured the Commissioner's Cup all 10 seasons while a member of the league.

The trophy, named for the former America East commissioner Stu Haskell, is presented annually to the school that has accumulated the highest point total as determined by a scoring system that rewards a school for success both during the regular season and at the championship competition in the conference's 21 sports.

Delaware captured the title despite winning just two team titles during the 2000-2001 season–the women's basketball and baseball crowns. The Hens placed second during the regular season in women's lacrosse, women's swimming, women's tennis and men's basketball.

Delaware posted a team total of 399 points to outdistance runner-up Hofstra (350) and third-place Boston University (348).
