The Bob

The Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center's (BCC) web site is the perfect starting place to learn about a diverse entertainment venue that includes everything from sporting events, concerts and shows to high school and college commencement ceremonies.

The event button is a useful tool that provides users with information on dates, times and availability of tickets for concerts, shows and sporting events at The Bob.

The past-event button makes viewers aware of the high caliber of entertainers who have graced the Bob's stage, with names and images of such performers as Bob Dylan, Third Eye Blind, Nas, Widespread Panic and Tony Bennett, as well as comedian/TV star Bill Cosby, the Harlem Globetrotters and country music legends Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash.

First-time browsers will especially welcome the site's virtual tour, which offers pictures and video clips of past events at The Bob.

"We sat down and talked about what we wanted to do and how we wanted the web site to look," director Domenick Sicilia said. "We also included student input to create a site that students would really want to take a look at."

A favorite item among new and veteran users of The Bob's web site is the "Tell YoUDee" survey option, which solicits patron preferences in entertainment venues and performers, as well as seeking input on what times, dates and ticket prices are most compatible with user schedules and lifestyles.

"The survey gets about 800 hits per month," Sicilia said. "It's user friendly and very popular."?

Sicilia said that his group asked for the latest technology to make sure that the site contained as much information as possible with easy connections to a variety of access systems. Particularly important is the ability of the site to download quickly, Joy Lynam, Management and Information Services, said. And, it meets the needs of browsers from outside UD who access The Bob through a modem connection.

"The site is engaging, graphic and accessible, and most browsers can easily resolve these pages," Lynam said. "Contact information is available on all pages, and link options like the virtual campus tour make it easy for visitors to reach us."
