Accounting earns accreditation

Following a peer review, the baccalaureate and master's degree programs of the Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems have received accreditation, as recommended by the Accounting Accreditation Committee and ratified by the board of directors of the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the international association for management education.

The department was especially commended for its integration of systems into the accounting curriculum and coursework, the leadership of its director in the department and the college and the strength of its student body.

According to accounting chairperson Kent St. Pierre, Arthur Anderson Alumni Professor of Accounting, the department accreditation process takes place every 10 years. "UD's accounting department is one of only 140 accounting programs nationwide to receive accreditation," St. Pierre said. "We are in a select group, which indicates the overall quality of the program at Delaware."
