Additional information added
to Web of Science, Article Express

The University of Delaware Library has released additional years of coverage for the Web of Science, a multidisciplinary database that covers the social sciences, arts and humanities and sciences.

Through support of the Unidel Foundation, the library has acquired the complete backfile of the Web of Science, as many years as the database is in existence. UD faculty, staff and students will now be able to search the science portion of the Web of Science with coverage beginning in 1945. The social sciences portion will have coverage beginning in 1956, and the arts and humanities portion will have coverage beginning in 1975. Indexing more than 8,000 scholarly journals and updated on a weekly basis, the Web of Science is a cornerstone of the electronic resources provided by the UD Library to support the research needs of University faculty, staff and students.

The Library also has included additional publisher full text links in the Article Express service. Released in October 2000, the Article Express service

allows users to search thousands of journals from major academic publishers via the Web of Science and other leading databases, which cover numerous disciplines. Databases that include the Article Express service have direct links to the full text of journal articles available online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

These new publisher links, designed and programmed by UD library staff, will provide journal full text access for publishers not previously included in the Article Express service. Foremost among these publishers are JSTOR and those that contain many full text titles that go back to the late 19th and early 20th century.

In combination with the additional years of coverage for the Web of Science, these new publisher links will greatly facilitate access for UD researchers to the scholarly journal literature and especially the journal literature prior to 1975.
