Robin Morgan

John Nye, dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, will return to the faculty at the end of his current term on June 30, and continue in his role as director of Cooperative Extension until a new dean is appointed, Provost Mel Schiavelli announced.

Robin Morgan, associate dean, will assume the role of acting dean of the college, effective July 1.

"The college," Schiavelli said, "as represented by its improved programs and facilities, is significantly better today than it was 10 years ago.

"Dean Nye provided the leadership needed to realize these enhancements and I know that I speak for all of his colleagues throughout the University in thanking him."

The search committee for a new dean "has been directed to conduct a wide-ranging search both on and off the campus to identify candidates who can assume a leadership position," Schiavelli said.

Members of the University community are encouraged to suggest candidates.

The search committee, chaired by Eric W. Kaler, dean of the College of Engineering, includes Robert Baker, Delaware Farm Bureau; John Boyer, E.I. du Pont Professor of Marine Biochemistry/ Biophysics; Joan Burnside, animal and food sciences; Judy Hough-Goldstein, entomology and applied ecology; Yan Jin, plant and soil sciences; Tom Ilvento, food and resource economics; Ed Kee, plant and soil sciences; Ken Lomax, bioresource engineering; and Nancy Targett, marine studies.
