Campaign kickoff

A. Keith Willard, former chairman of Zeneca Inc. and current statewide United Way campaign chair, shares his enthusiasm for United Way with more than 130 UD campaign solicitors at the campus campaign kickoff Oct. 13 at the Bob Carpenter Center. Involved with United Way efforts since 1964, Willard said when he's asked why he supports United Way, his answer is "I get the biggest bang for my buck by giving to United Way." Also at the kickoff, Vice President for Administration Maxine Colm announced the results of two early campaigns: $4,210 from retirees and $16,758 from the Pacesetters' campaign, in which senior administrators and employees pledge their support before the official kickoff. The goal for the 1999 campaign, which ends Oct. 29, is $210,000. For information, check out the web site at <www.udel.edu/unitedway>.
